Use any house rules you think make sense.  There are several sites out 
there with house rules on them (including mine).

I did what you did -- a true botch only occurs with a 1 on all dice (b/c 
they were too frequent, hard to figure out quickly, and had weird 
statistical occurances the standard way).  However, 1's on half or more can 
still have an Unforseen complication should the GM choose.

As for advice, keep the flow moving, and have fun. :)
