Actually, I believe the next story after the initial X-Men/Trask/Master Mold 
thing mentioned took place in Avengers, and had Sentinel #2 being exposed to 
solar flares and somehow turning into a "mutant" (with a 
teleportation/gate-warping ability), as well as human.  His plan was then to 
stimulate solar flare activity, turn everyone on earth sterile, and after 
they all died out re-breed humanity from scratch without mutation.

The Avengers fought them in a big honkin' crater/HQ in the Australian 
outback, and eventually figured out #2 was a mutant...which meant the other 
Sentinels turned on him and destroyed him.

Ah, those were the Mk. 2 Sentinels, about the most dangerous of all the 
versions except Nimrod.  They could adapt to defeat pretty much anything 
right on up to Thor's hammer.

How that would apply to BNW, I have no idea...  :)
