Our heroes were trying to get away from some DP troops and a 25 foot tall DP
battlemech. Rapido, the Speedster, picked up Riposte, the Defender, and was
trying to run away (she's a Size 4 and he raised his Strength to be able to
carry her with less of a movement penalty). The battlemech opened fire with
its railgun and Rapido Dodged.

While carrying someone, can he use the AfterImages Trick?

My initial thought was no, because it's giving a Speedster Trick to a
Defender, but the more I thought about it, the more I wasn't sure. If he
used AfterImages while carrying a football, the football would be in all of
the AfterImages, so where would the line be drawn?

What I think I will be going with is yes, he can use AfterImages while
carrying someone/something,and they will be included in the AfterImages, but
he does have a modifier to his Dodge TN. The penalty is 3 times the carried
person's/object's size. So, instead of needing his normal 15 to activate the
Trick (TN of 10, plus the extra success), he needs a 27 (TN of 10, plus
(3xRipiste's Size of 4=)12=22 plus the extra success to activate the Trick).

 Thoughts? Opinions?

I'm not the Matt that you specifically wanted to answer this question, but
I'll throw my 2-cents in on it anyway.

I think the Speedster would be able to perform the Afterimage trick. It
seems to me that it does come from his delta powers, but as long as he is
still able to run quickly while carrying her, she would be included as an
"image" since the image begins with him and he is carrying her.

Can't wait to see what Matt says, though.
