Hmm..  reminds me of a comic I read in my youth.. might be the same 
one..  I remember a fitting (if gruesome) issue where a German tank is set 
of fire (can't remember how), but the commander orders them to 
retreat.  The tank runs along and smashes into a tree -- the crew is 
knocked out, but slowly being burned.  A heavy rain falls, putting out the 
fire and waking the crew, who are by now all hideously burned.

The crew are practically undead, and their anger sustains them:  they find 
out that they will not die from simple gunfire, and fearless charge into 
the enemy lines, destroying large numbers of the enemy.  Finally, the ghost 
of Jeb Stuart leads the commander of the Ghost Tank (was *that* the name) 
to take them out...

But just think:  a whole crew of a tank, hideously burned, becomes Deltas 
instantly.. but what kind?

Hmm... makes an interesting (and somewhat frightening) idea, no?
