I thought it was established that that Snuffer (Morgan Delaurentis) was in 
prison at the time, as explained in pages 104-105 of the Defiance SB.  If 
the hypothetical pact with a demon was to remove all Alphas from the earth, 
and Morgan wasn't technically an alpha (or even a delta) at the time, I 
could see a demon looking at that as a loophole and letting her (and the 
other imprisoned Alphas) stay on earth.

That still doesn't explain Houdini and Marie, but again, the assumption 
seems to be that they were off Earth at the time in another dimension.  Matt 
doesn't state that, but it is strongly implied in Houdini's case (and a case 
I made for Prometheus at my web site).

Alternately, since anti-magic totems function as snuffer devices, it's 
possible Houdini and/or Marie, with a hint of precognition, took precautions 
using such devices knowing about when the bomb would go off.

All IMO, I suppose.
