I did consider the "strength at a range" issue, but I still don't see it as
unbalancing. For one, there is no way in the present rules for a Telekinetic
to get bonuses to her Smarts like the Goliath and Scrapper get to their
Strengths. In other words, the Telekinetic is stuck with 5d6 maximum
starting "strength" of her telekinesis (if I was to impliment the rule I was
originally presenting), while the Goliath could get 5d6+5 and the Scrapper
5d6+3 ... quite a big difference those bonuses make both in amount "lifted"
and damage from attacks. Also, the Goliath and the Scrapper both get to use
their bonuses for Strength checks in general, especially those important stun
checks. The Telekinetic hero does not get these benefits/bonuses.
So, IMHO the Goliath, Scrapper, and Telekinetic hero are paying the same cost
for about the same level of power. The Goliath and the Scrapper get the
bonuses (that apply to all Strength rolls) with no range, and the Telekinetic
gets no bonuses with range. Seems like a pretty balanced situation to me.
I do see your point about using one's powers and it being fatiguing, however,
even if there is no actual game mechanic for it.
Thanks for your input. :-)
