Re: [BNW] Bargainers, eh?
I'm going to be a dissident here. I just got the Bargainers book at
DragonCon and am less than enthused. It's a great product, don't get
me wrong, but it doesn't resonate with me the way the other stuff in
the BNW line has done. My husband, who was converted to wanting to
play a Bargainer simply by looking at the cover and loves the entire
concept, figured out that the reason it didn't click with me is that
the main draw of BNW is the whole freedom issue. That isn't part of
the Bargainers--at least, not the same way as the other stuff I've
read.
I guess if I were looking at running a long-term campaign, rather
than several short ones, then I might be more inclined in playing
with the Bargainers war. Or maybe it is just that I'd formed my own
idea of how to flesh out the Bargainers, and this doesn't quite jive
with it. I don't like the idea of them all being demon summoners or
a big organization. Some of it is quite cool--I like the play off of
the Covenant, I like some of the backstory, etc. I haven't read all
the totem/spell additions yet, but what I've seen is pretty neat.
I think the other problem I have is how do you work this in for PCs?
I'm leery of anything that can take up lots of game time but be for
only one character--something that shouldn't be glossed over. The
last thing I need is them getting desperate and deciding to summon a
demon Right Now. Any thoughts on that?
