[BNW] Newcommer with a few questions
Hi there
My name is Nikolaj Lemche and I'm a newcomer to the list. I am really happy
to find a forum where you can talk about Brave New World.
I have a few questions about the game, I hope I don't annoy anyone if these
are things you people have already talked about.
1. How much damage can you take when you have superstrength?
First I thought that it was you strength _dice_ that determined the number
of wounds you can take, but then in Ravaged planet there's this covenant
power where you can get superstrength and there it is written that the extra
damage you can take because of this strength bonus disappears when you
returns to normal strength.
So does this mean that if you have a strength of 4d6+3 then you can take 7
wounds in a location before you are knocked out?
2. Active defense. In melee combat the difficulty to be hit is 5 + your
combat skill bonus + evt. weapon defense bonus. If you use an action to
dodge then it becomes speed d6 roll + dodge bonus.
Do you get the combat skill + weapon defense bonus added to your action
score of the dodge roll? If you don't then wont dodge not often cause you to
be hit more often than if you didn't dodge?
3. Covers with wounds and size?
If you follow the rules then a cover gets blown to bits easier if you are
smaller because it is your size that determines how many wounds an attack
generates. Have any of you found a solution to this problem?
4. Indestructible vehicles.
Vehicles seem to be incredible tough. If you take a Camaro then it has
armor 10, size 10 and it can take 15 wounds before being destroyed. This
mean that a single attack need to do 160 points of damage to be able to
destroy this type of car.
A 120 mm rocket will on average only do 2 wounds of damage to the car
(30.8% chance of 1 wound, 17% chance of 3 wounds) meaning that you need to
hit it with an average of 8 120 mm rockets before being able to destroy
it?!?
I hope I have misunderstood the vehicle damage rules.
