Well, I was hoping to save some form of
self-immolation for the Hot Shot power package. Of
course now looking over the hot shot, they seem to
have an opponent immolation type trick, so maybe you
idea will work better.

Sicne we're on the topic of Blasters, here's some more
trick ideas and then I'll be done with them and try to
move on to some other packages.

Sideswipe- With an extra success the blaster can swipe
one target and hit a target behind it, as long at
they're both in a straight line. The first target
only takes 1/2 damage, and you still need to roll to
hit the second target, but can't use any extra
successes from that roll.

Curveball- Curveball must be declared before dice are
rolled, and the first extra success must be used for
this trick or the trick is unsuccessful. This trick
allows you to arc you energy blast beam. With it you
can shoot over people to hit a target behind them,
around corners (if you can somehow see the target), or
from behind hiding places. The advantage of this
trick is if your target hasn't already seen you he
knows approximately the direction the attack came
from, but he doesn't know exactly where. Also if used
in conjunction with sideswipe then the two targets do
not have to be in a straight line.

Counterstrike- If you have a held action (maybe even
allow them to give up their next action like a dodge),
you can target an incoming ranged attack and destroy
it before it reaches you. The target number is the
attack roll, but you need an extra success to counter
the attack. If you do not get an extra success you
are still affected by the attack. This ability
doesn't work on area effect ranged attacks or close
attacks.

Cosmetic ray- In my opinion the energy created by
Blasters is some form of plasma. I'm sure some Guides
will allow players to tweak their characters by
letting them choose lightning or laser beams as the
energy type. The point is, each energy beam shot by a
character is almost like a signature. It is unique in
nature, color, texture, smell (sure why not) to the
particular character. If used this way it could
almost be a calling card. Jon Warlock is sitting on a
park bench when a glowing green beam smelling of burnt
toast streams past him ... 'It could only be the Neon
Muffin,' he thinks before seeing his opponent. Well
for vanity reasons, or for just plain fun and
silliness, with Cosmetic Ray the Blaster can change an
aspect of his beam with an extra success. Hmmm, I'm
feeling festive, let's try some pink rose scented
lightning today ... trust me, this may seem silly, but
I've allowed players to do this in other games (D&D w/
magic missles), and it has a great effect in speeding
up combat, or at least making it more interesting.

That's it for blasters for now,
