Been real quiet... TOO quiet... I wonder what the DPs are
planning...
*Really* gonna try to get my site updated in the next couple of
days (gosh! it's been a couple of weeks!) with some stuff, and
I'll pass that onto the list to try to drum up some discussion...
Until then, here's a challenge: come up with a Halloween-themed
scenario-starter in a dozen lines or so. It doesn't have to be a
full epic, just a few lines of setup, the villain and the
resolution... Let me see if I can go first....
[Turns to Storypath cards for inspiration.. Hmm.. Insomnia, Miser,
Lust, Legend and Last Chance...]
MILES TO GO: Setup: Delta Prime raids a old Bargainer's
house, claiming "crimes against the state", take him or her into
custody and take several items from his or her house "as evidence."
One of those items contains the powerful daemon Kzzrn, who
requires constant vigilance or will escape from the bonds forged
around his power. For some reason, someone within DP, another
Bargainer, desired this item and the power it is capable of
weilding, and set up the other Bargainer. The Heroes are contacted
by a "good" Bargainer to rescue the captured Bargainer and more
importantly, take the item before Kzzrn escapes. The DP Bargainer,
however, will not give up the item under any circumstances, and
has already killed twice to keep it entirely to him-/herself.
The effects of Kzzrn's power is being felt throughout the city,
as thousands have extraordinary difficulties sleeping, in
particular the DP Bargainer and the PCs. Add other mind-twisting
effects if desired. Stir, then let simmer. Remove when it
explodes....)
(Title comes from a Robert Frost poem, "Stopping By Woods on a
Snowy Evening", which goes:
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
And before you think me a literary officionado -- I just did
a web search. ;)
