RE: [BNW] Hello - powers package concept - please do!

I disagree. The system as Matt describes would be equivalent to creating
your Deadlands Traits and then being forced to choose from only ~20 skills
packages. Or what if your Huckster could only choose packages of of hexes?
Would you like that?

I never said the power package system wouldn't work. I said it would
decrease the likelihood of me buying it. Before I heard this, I was
planning on going to the game store, picking up the BNW rulebook and
immediately walking to the counter to buy it. Now, I will be picking up the
book and scanning the character creation section. If it's too restrictive,
I'll be putting the book back on the shelf.

I don't like limitations in games. The power package is a limitation.

Your opinion is different. Matt needs to hear both and decide what will
maximize sales of the game.

IMO, the problem that the package system is trying to solve could be solved
in other ways that are not so restrictive.

In summary: Power packages good, Pinnacle good, Matt Forbeck good, AD&D
bad.
